Shooter Games Dominate Latin America: A Q4 2020 Performance Analysis

In the final quarter of 2020, Latin America saw significant activity within the shooter games category on mobile platforms. Data from Sensor Tower reveals the performance of the top shooter games, highlighting their downloads and weekly active users.

Garena Free Fire: The Chaos, a leading game in the segment, showed a steady increase in weekly active users, starting at 62M in the last week of September and peaking at 66M by the end of December. The game experienced a fluctuation in downloads with a peak of 1.6M in early October and ending the quarter with over 1.1M downloads in the last week of December. Revenue for Free Fire also saw an upward trend, finishing the quarter with over $3M in the last week of December.

Call of Duty®: Mobile displayed consistent performance in weekly active users, maintaining over 5M throughout the quarter. Downloads for the game saw a notable increase in the third week of December with around 445K, while revenue peaked in the third week of December at over $640K.

Tencent's PUBG MOBILE also held its ground with weekly active users hovering above 2M for the entire quarter. The game saw a significant spike in downloads to nearly 400K in the third week of November, with its revenue reaching over $490K in the same period.

War Robots Multiplayer Battles experienced a slight decline in active users, from 308K in the last week of September to 256K by the end of December. Despite this, the game achieved its highest revenue for the quarter with nearly $60K in the second week of December, and downloads remained relatively stable throughout the quarter.

Lastly, Sniper 3D: Gun Shooting Games saw its weekly active users fluctuate around the 2M mark, ending the quarter at around 2.4M. Downloads for the title remained strong, with a peak of over 530K in the last week of December. Revenue for Sniper 3D showed a positive trend, culminating in over $35K in the last week of December.
